Power Cord (2024)
Power Cord was named as such from a funny memory I have of my last apartment. I built a version of my studio too close to the power budget and blew a whole wall (I'll leave RCA to the reader's imagination). For the rest of my stay there, I was carrying around a twenty foot extension cord from the bathroom to get anything done on one side of my apartment. Before I moved out this cable had become the lifeline for the album, and afterwards it became a reference point just for how far I could take things. It was my first project where I played every percussion part; synthesizers building on techniques I had experimented with earlier, but pushing them much further. More than anything, Power Cord marks the point when I started designing systems to augment my skills as a musician. This created a sound that is uniquely my own, and ever evolving as I develop my skills as both an instrumentalist and an engineer.
Burning (2022)
In the throes of balancing raucous musicianship and a publishing marathon, I was burning at both ends. This album was written in two cities 140 miles apart, often in the middle of the night. The writing for Burning actually started with The Kangaroo Court. Josh and I used to play Gloria and Souls at parties until COVID caused everyone to move back to their hometowns. I started driving back and forth between Grand Rapids and my hometown Macomb to record Josh's drum parts late at night. The marching theme from party to paranoia.
The Kangaroo Court (2021)
The name of the album comes from the band name which Josh Garsteck and I were going by for the years leading up to COVID. We recorded the album everywhere: bedrooms, dorms, basements, garages, living rooms, parking structures, and arm's distance from a moving train!
